The idea for ‘Out in the Field’ emerged during the first covid lockdown in Spring 2020. Jessie Teggin, the Director of The Quadrangle, was living at the Quadrangle with her family whilst the learning and retreat centre was closed.
Whilst following the news of covid spreading and death rates she became increasingly aware of the stark contrast between her surroundings and what healthcare workers were living through and made a commitment to NHS staff recovery through a ‘Nature Recovery Programme’.
A shared admiration for the work of those in the NHS and aspiration to find a way to acknowledge and thank those on the frontline drew Jen Morgan, Liz Murphy and Miriam Saltmarshe to the project and together they designed the first Out in the Field day retreat programme.
Since then they have worked with Dr Jane Stevens – Medical Director for Wellbeing and Workforce at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust and built up the Out in the Field (OITF) team.
Funding provided through the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme from Defra and the Kent Downs National Landscape
